A well-known meme that reflects reality (and a stabilizing approach) quite well. It usually is supposed to be read like this:

PLAY the moment.
PAUSE the memories.
STOP the pain.
REWIND the happiness.

With some adaptation, the principles of emotional stabilization can be reflected by this:

PLAY the moment - if it is uplifting or constructive. (Playfulness is another possible aspect here...)
PAUSE memories that are overwhelmingly negative.
To "STOP" the pain - simply by deciding or wanting it - will not be enough in many cases.
REWIND to moments and experiences of happiness, joy, freedom, and safety is the core idea of Resource Work.
